Ismet Krasniqi got elected the new President of the Kosovo Olympic Committee
Ismet Krasniqi has been elected the new President of the Kosovo Olympic Committee in the 8th Electoral Assembly held last night at the Emerald Hotel in Prishtina.
Krasniqi got 53 votes against his two opponents, Besim Hasani, who received 41 votes, and Linda Shala 11 votes.
Krasniqi, the Karate Federation of Kosovo president, was nominated for the Athletics Federation of Kosovo's candidacy. After taking the post of president addressed the assembly members, thanking them for their trust.
"I thank you from the bottom of my heart for the support you have given me the opportunity for four years. Your vote will always remain yours. There is only one loser here; he is me because I will sacrifice for you. The biggest winner is you and the sport of Kosovo. I dedicate the victory to my brother. Thank you all for your trust," said President Krasniqi.
Former President Besim Hasani congratulated him, accepting the result with sportsmanship. Hasani, who had received his candidacy from the Kosovo Curling Federation, of which he is chairman, has headed the Kosovo Olympic Committee since 1996.
Elected Vice Presidents of KOC are Gazmend Maxhuni (triathlon), Milaim Kelmendi (skiing), Mimoza Shkodra Bislimi (volleyball), and Eugen Saraqini (handball).
Members of the Executive Board will be Shqipe Bajçinca-Brestovci, Avni Nuha, Bujar Turjaka, Vjollca Krasniqi, Agron Mala, Besire Domaniku, Musa Selimi, Jeton Beqiri, Halil Sylejmani, and Musa Hajdari.
